Eric F · Answer

Peelingflesh 💀: Love this band and their style of metal. Heavy as fuck, not self serious, all riffs, no solos, complex drums, choice samples, etc.

Elena · Answer

ict by Oklou (& the whole Choke Enough album): Summer in a song, ict captures the exhilaration of chasing the ice cream truck —heart and feet pumping, just praying the truck will hit a stop sign so you can catch up— and feels like it stretches to resonate with every dream-chasing feeling in life. Blade bird is another standout but album is perfect to me!

Elena · Answer

Reliquia by Rosalía (and the whole LUX album): Not to be dramatic but this album is transcendent. I cried listening to it the first time, and seeing her perform it live was genuinely a spiritual experience which also brought tears 🥲. Every time I listen I cannot help but dance like I’m possessed. She sings in THIRTEEN languages on this album! The music is deeply stirring and the lyrics are profound. Rosalía wants us to never forget that the sacred and the profane are the same.

Sarah Cooney · Answer

Motion Sickness: My top song on Spotify Wrapped for the past six years. That says it all.

Ariel · Answer

Arirang by BTS: BTS has been around for 13 years and has faced many struggles on their journey to becoming global icons. They made this album after a 3-4 year hiatus and whether you like k-pop or not, this album SLAPS HARD. Along with pop, it has good hip hop beats and is all around a fun album to listen to and inspiring to hear what they’ve been through and endured.

Tiffy · Answer

Naïka: French haitian singer songwriter and everytime i listen to her i feel like im on holiday, its good vibes and its a good day! She doesn’t have a bad song, so any song would literally be a great song.

She’s performing in London this Thursday too! Very excited to hear her

Mo · Answer

Ctrl - Album by SZA: I've been nostalgic for my sad girl 20s apparently, which was when this album came out. The whole album feels like that period of time to me. In particular "Drew Barrymore" and "Normal Girl" are some of my favorite tracks.

Jean by Yebba: Been a huge fan of Yebba for years and have been marinating with her second studio album since she released it about two months ago. Had the privilege of seeing her live at The Fillmore in SF last week and she was absolutely incredible. Her vocals are always insane but her ear for production impresses me as well. Would also highly recommend her Tiny Desk concert! She features a few of my favorite songs from her first studio album, Dawn.

Effie · Answer

Diabolique: Last Summer I curated this playlist specifically to take me from lounging at my pool to taking the train to the movie theater. There was one specific week where I saw La Dolce Vita, Psycho, Les Diaboliques, Pierrot Le Fou, & In The Mood for Love - so you’ll see the influence from those films also.

Spotify: perfect sunshine outside air album

Sophie B · Answer

Air and Hole: Ok, I have two. First up: the song La femme d'argent by Air because it makes me feel like I'm the main character in a movie, moving slowly across a casino floor and about to unwittingly fall in love with the villain. Secondly, the album Celebrity Skin by Hole because I'm having an intense moment with Courtney Love right now.

jmd · Answer

St. Vincent, MASSEDUCTION (2017): This might be even better than her self-titled album, and I'm fully obsessed with the self-titled album.
