Omakase at Taikun Sushi ($85!)

Only 8 seats and tucked away next to, of all places, the Grey Lady. Their omakase includes 11 pieces of nigiri, a handroll, and a forgettable mochi ice cream, but the price really feels like a steal given the quality of the sushi. The fish was really good and the nigiri very balanced! Plus not that hard to book

Going to the US Open

I’ve never been into tennis (beyond my love of tennis-centric fiction, i.e., Challengers and Carrie Soto is Back) and was feeling grossed out by the influencer spectacle the US Open has turned into, but have to admit seeing a match here was incredible. I was also surprised how close you feel to the action at Arthur Ashe even at the 300 level!

Other People We Married by Emma Straub

I picked this up off a stoop a few days ago and have been really enjoying it?? I’ve read a few of Emma Straub’s other books before and can’t remember literally anything about them (sorry Emma) but these short stories have been so absorbing. The characters and their relationships to each other are surprisingly vivid, and I’ve found myself both craving more and being very satisfied at the end of each story

You can combine as many flavors as you want!!! The gelato here is super rich and creamy and the fruit sorbets are really icy and perfectly sweet. Recently got cantaloupe sorbet + chocolate + peach and it was perfect

Watched this on Le Cinema Club and loved it. Maybe a mental association because this film is directed by Michael Roemer, but the aesthetic actually reminds of Rohmer films (but the drama is very American)?? New England summer in all its glory. Brooke Adams is great in this
