Good News for People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse: This is the purest roadtrip jam album out there. So good, front to back, though to be fair it is tied with We Were Dead Before the Ship Sank.

Hamilton: An American Musical (Original Broadway Cast Recording): Sing it at top volume for 2.5 hours and then do it again! It’s the best album for a long drive, especially if you and your travel companions each pick a certain character to “be” for the entire album.

Juarez (Terry Allen): “Juarez is not just an album, at least not in any ordinary sense of the word. Songwriter and visual artist Terry Allen describes it instead as a “haunting.””

naked eyes (1983): 80s synthpop, catchy, fun, and such a well-rounded album. they had two major hits you may know, but the album as a whole is so underrated in my opinion.

Monkey Business - Black Eyed Peas: Front to back, this album is a masterpiece. They put the fun in funk. I vividly remember this being one of the first albums my mom & I would jam out to in the car (circa 2005, I was 5 years old singing every word and pumping my fist to Pump It). Still play this album at least once a year; it tells a cohesive story with super unique sounds on every song. Plus, who doesn’t love the Black Eyed Peas??

Eric F · Answer

1984 - Van Halen 👼: Great full play album for a road trip. Top to bottom hits. Head bang to Panama, and shift into turbo mode whenever an Eddie Van Halen solo starts.

Elena · Answer

We Will Always Love You by The Avalanches: This album is practically no skip for me! Interstellar Love samples the Alan Parson’s Project Eye In The Sky (!!) and the whole album feels fresh and brilliant to me. A long album that will most certainly keep you awake on a road trip. My big skip is Weightless but maybe you’ll feel differently.

Elena · Answer

ict by Oklou (& the whole Choke Enough album): Summer in a song, ict captures the exhilaration of chasing the ice cream truck —heart and feet pumping, just praying the truck will hit a stop sign so you can catch up— and feels like it stretches to resonate with every dream-chasing feeling in life. Blade bird is another standout but album is perfect to me!

Princess Nokia - GIRLS: a journey through the femme experience: from rage (Blue Velvet, Medusa) to romance (Matcha Cherry). The writing is genius and articulates ~girlhood is a spectrum~ so gorgeously. The pop culture nerd in me is also obsessed with all the references.

Ray of Light: This album is widely regarded as Madonna's magnum opus, and the older I get, the more I appreciate why.

Collaborating with electronic producer William Orbit, it took her four months to record - the longest she's ever spent recording an album. Worth it, imho.

Ray of Light debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales for a woman at the time. It topped the charts of 17 countries, won multiple Grammy awards and has now sold over 16 million copies globally.
