these recs rule - i loved Windansea beach and recommend grabbing a pastry at Wayfarer and coffee at Bird Rock in la Jolla nearby OR fresh seafood at El Pescador Fish Market. also Swami’s Beach + self realization fellowship is lovely. I loved City Tacos and Mitch’s Seafood also.

San Diego native, here! Stay/eat/swim/catch a jazz show at The Lafayette, catch a sunset and watch the surfers at Windansea beach, followed by a strawberry soft serve at Mr. Frostie. Try an açaì bowl and mango vanilla smoothie at Señor Mango's, after grabbing a coffee or matcha at Communal. Rent a speedboat and cruise around SD bay on a sunny afternoon (I recommend Seaforth!). Go thrifting in Oceanside, drive down to Del Mar, hike Torrey Pines and cruise along the coast. Check out Cabrillo National Monument for tidepooling, and the best view of San Diego in the city. Grab a cocktail at Communion for the amazing view, followed by dinner at Izakaya Masa (super duper secret local FAVORITE), followed by karaoke at The Lamplighter (affectionately known as Lampy to locals). Other amazing dinner spots include Origen, Leila, Fortunate Son, and the BEST most classic Mexican spot in the city, El Indio (it's been around since 1940!!). If you can only do one thing, make it El Indio and get the #7 combination plate!
