adéla
•••
As someone who tries really hard, I love it when artists talk openly and passionately about all the effort that went into honing their craft. Adéla knows ball. If you loved Addison Rae's debut album, you will probably love my girl Adéla. favorite tracks: Ain't in LA, KGB, Superscar, SexOnTheBEat

let england shake - pj harvey
•••
This is how it feels to love a country that fundamentally sucks. In many ways, this is my favorite album of all time, and it kind of scratches every single itch for me personally. A scathing takedown of British empire, and a love letter to England all at once. Mournful, bitter, righteous, tender, beautiful, and haunting. I find myself revisiting it often, especially on bad news days.

loveland - suki waterhouse
•••
Suki Waterhouse has cemented her place in my pantheon of alternative pop stars. Her music has an endlessly replayable quality. I listened to the whole album about three times on a flight last night, then once again in my uber home, and then again on my walk to work. It just feels good - romantic, bratty, brimming with confidence and odd flourishes. I'd pay $100 for nosebleeds. favorite tracks: back in love, any man, notting hill, when i get drunk i want you boy, seasons, tiny raisin, morals (featuring mick fleetwood on drums?!), weirdo, 18

this song sounds like sitting on a lawn chair on my front porch reading flannery o'connor and rolling my eyes while my dumbass uncles drink beer and shout and light stuff on fire

starkisser - sucré
•••
stacy king (of the band eisley - remember them??) has been consistently putting out banger albums under her solo act, sucré. it absolutely boggles the mind how little attention this work has gotten, given stacy's bona fides. she's one of our greatest vocalists and songwriters, and the production work here is equal parts ethereal and brutal. this album is largely about the death of her mom a few years ago, so i guess trigger warning for dead mom stuff. favorite tracks: mid-july, head out the window, raise hell, bloody
