Probably everybody knows this, but: countless free ebooks via your local library
Very cool. Picks the closest Rothko for how the weather looks and feels wherever you are in the world.
I met this mom on the Palm Springs tram, and she was so loving with her kids that I told her she seemed like a great mother. An older woman told me the same thing on a train when my kids were little. Unforgettable. Moms beat themselves up, but they should understand how truly wonderful they are.
In a world of faces Botoxed to uncreased neutrality, a letter of recommendation for an expressive visage! Let them see how much fun you’re having! No one more beautifully expressive than Lauren Hutton here in 1985. Mwah 💋
Sized just right for cupholders (and a whole nectarine, thinly sliced).
Grandpa Sammy is a tax lawyer so most everything he does is practical. He’s in his early seventies, still practicing law, and he drives to work everyday. He makes his lunch, and he doesn’t forget it because his car keys are on top.
Take a bow, gang
Libby—the greatest app of all time. I use it CONSTANTLY, mostly for audiobooks, but also to download craft books and cookbooks to browse on my iPad. (I have a hard time retaining info I read digitally, so I still like to read on the page when I can.) A trick: get as many library cards as you can (I have 4); this is good for you (increased chances that one library will have the book you’re after available), but it’s also good for the library (more users equals more tax money for the library)!
Caregivers (parents who do not work outside of the home or do but do not make a living wage, those taking care of elderly folks and people with disabilities, people caring for trans folks recovering from gender affirming surgeries, your house cleaner and the person who does your laundry, your dog walker and shelter worker and nanny and day care person and and and) should automatically receive gov subsidized health care that covers vision + dental (teeth and eyes are not optional!) and a living wage. People who are on zoom meetings all day talking about how to reorganize digital folders also deserve health care yet people who are doing vital physical labor are under compensated and uninsured. Make that make sense and just advocate to make sure that caregivers across sectors have what they need to stay alive and do their work. Caring Across Generations is linked here because they are doing deep activist and advocacy work for caregivers and our communities.
24/7 live feed of a watering hole in the Namib Desert. Drop in randomly and you might see zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, ostriches or lot of different birds. Perfect for decompressing.
Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top @Rec League can we kindly have the option to create folders for all the recs we have saved!? 🙏 @James Kylstra @Grier @Chris Mueller 😇😇😇
Turning an ever-growing list (43,815 as of this typing) of Wikipedia objects into an shuffle-able online I Spy = another ingenious creation by Neal Agarwal (I also enjoyed his visualization of The Deep Sea).

Geborgenheit is a profound German word describing a deep sense of security, protection, and emotional warmth, often considered untranslatable into a single English word. It combines feelings of being safe, cozy, loved, and at peace—typically experienced at home or with trusted loved ones.
Love this. Spell your (or any) name with satellite images.
This has been the most useful and supportive app that I learned about on rec league. I use it everyday and it helps me to name and track my feelings with more precision. The aesthetic is compelling but not cheesy which encourages me to keep using it. Thanks @samael!
Full disclosure, I ghost-write this baby with my sisters, but if you love Rec League (cofounded by one such sister!) you’ll love Notes, a free Friday email ‘sletter with the best of the net, book and film recs, recipes, and choice links.
this practice has been really helpful for refocusing my energy when i feel a little lost ♥️ things that light you up, ground you, and bring you deep meaning all in one place so you don’t spend too much time obsessing over stuff that isn’t foundational :)
she's actin like she's the queen and we're the sorry people!
Pet dogs! Wave at babies! Chat with neighbors! People of all ages do this on our block. It will change your life.
PSA: I’m a “Saved folder” fiend on this app. Would you like to join a collaborative “bookmark club” in the form of a Room? I’d kick it off with a few recently saved Recs… (If I’m a fan of yours on RL, I might just have to invite you in anyway because I want to play with the feature and see your pro saves?!)
My counselor told me this week a brilliant idea about habits: “Instead of being all or nothing, what is today’s version of You as a good friend? You as someone working on their health? You as productive yet present?” Every day isn’t a home run. Habits are about showing up consistently instead. Maybe this idea helps you also figure out what today’s version of your goal looks like, daily. Found it incredibly helpful.
Wasn’t sure about this but downloaded it last week and am loving the extra layer of scan when I’m out and about. Highly recommend. The no $ version I’m using is great. No one needs the chaos of being filmed by anyone in this nefarious way. YOU are the POWER! Also love that the app flags all the non chaos related devices nearby as well.
