When I travel, I pick one sweet little color scheme (nautical! black and tan!) and pack strictly within it. Everything mixes and matches like magic, my shoe count stays refreshingly small, and layering is basically effortless. Tiny system, big payoff!

This is the only sweater you need on trips (or in life, for that matter.) It's 100% merino wool, doesn't retain odors, almost never wrinkles and if it does releases them easily. It's warm, lightweight, and appropriate for literally any occasion. Bobbi Brown buys this sweater in a men's XS - mine are in my true size, but I think I’ll try her way next.

Outdoor Voices Zephyr 29" Pant
The ultimate travel pants. They roll up into practically nothing and don't wrinkle. I once met up with two tasteful friends who live overseas while wearing these and they both said "good pants." You can wear them in 50 degree rainy weather or 80 degree sunny weather. I've worn them in airports, on hikes, and out to nice dinners. I own these in olive and navy in the 29" inseam (I'm 5'8" and my pants inseams are generally 28"-34".)

Hotel room lounge wear, swimwear cover up, smartened up with nice pants, lazing around with shorts. Really, any occasion… I never travel without at least one big ass button down. Frank and Eileen makes a great one if you’re shopping for new, but honestly most of my favorites are thrifted from the men’s section or stolen from my husband’s closet. I look for poplin for summer and Oxford the rest of the year.

A midi dress with short sleeves
During the spring/summer always bring a midi dress with short sleeves for tours of religious or historical sites. They usually have rules about being covered up plus they don’t have air conditioning. Not the most fashion forward rec, but neither are those synthetic scarves they make you buy outside of the Vatican to cover your shoulders

This is so versatile — it’s so light. It literally folds up into nothing. You can wear it out for dinner. You can wear it casually — you can dress it up dress it down. It’s the perfect travel blazer. I love it.

You want something polished but not stuffy and uncomfortable? You want to throw it in a travel bag and immediately wear it in a business casual setting or a hike? These are it! As a petite person who has to pretend to be a lawyer during the day. The waist hits at the perfect place and not constricting anywhere with the right amount of taper-ing at the hem for the straight fit.
Yes, $90 for a T-shirt seems insane at first, but hear me out: Merino wool is amazing stuff. It keeps you cool when it's warm and warm when it's cool. It hardly absorbs odors at all, so you can (and should) wear it a dozen times or more before washing it. That means that you really only need one or two (and if you compare, say, $180 for two great merino T-shirts versus $210 for a week's worth of mediocre $30 cotton T-shirts that require doing a lot more laundry to boot, the price doesn't seem that outlandish anymore). It also means that it's perfect for traveling light (I was in Italy for 10 days recently and I literally had no shirts in my bag, because I only took the merino T and merino long-sleeve I had on and just wore those the entire time). And it's great for workout wear, because you can sweat into them as much as you want and they'll never get that long-term mustiness that cotton gets after a while even when you wash it. Wool & Prince's 100% merino wool T-shirts are my favorite for daily wear. Icebreaker is more athletically oriented and I like both their T-shirts and their base layers.

If you are traveling and only have space for one pair of sneakers, and that pair of sneakers must do double duty as streetwear and gym/running sneakers, 990s are it.
the lightest, comfiest shoes for travel and then work well in whatever city you’re traveling to with so many outfits (i wear w comfy clothes, dresses, jeans and white tee, etc)

The GOAT for a reason. I've worn these bad boys through eight Chicago winters, two trips to Ireland, one trip to the Scottish highlands, and a handful of trips to New York. They're comfortable enough to wear on long walking trips and water-resistant enough to keep out snow and rain for weeks at a time. I love my Blundstones. I'd recommend them to everyone.

A Good Scarf - The Perfect Travel Accessory
It’s a bag, it’s a top, it’s a hair accessory and over a hat it’s cover from the sun. Tie it on your bag, around your waist or in your hair. Dress it up, dress it down just don’t forget to pack it. This one I brought on our sailing trip from Ennue Studios is Italian silk on a gorgeous chocolaty color that goes with everything I own.

A dress and a blazer. Pants with short sleeve shirt and a sweater. No solid colors or fabrics that show sweat… black white and patterns can be your go to. Looser clothing (oversized button down) can give you more room to breathe. Also linking a pair of Old Navy pants I think hit the performance fabric and professional balance well for a nice price.

R/heronebag put me onto this brand. You can walk for miles in them and there's a ton of styles to choose from. When I travel I pack a pair of these alongside my hiking sneakers and boom, I’ve got a versatile wardrobe.

didn't know I would like these! feels not unlike wearing an actual piece of tire but I swear that's a good thing. they pack up very small, the straps are adjustable, and they look like you're a gallery owner at her summer place.

You can go tailored or over sized, but either way this a great layering piece- I love to wear with dark jeans and boots to a dinner with a fun necklace or over a swimsuit with my white linen pants

I'm a light-packing kind of traveler! One trick: I only pack for half the trip, then send my clothes out (or hit up a laundromat) partway through for a mid-trip refresh. This picture shows my kid on a quick laundry stop in NYC.
