The Left on Friday Sunday Shortie fits and feels as wonderful as the Sunday Suit, and the boy-shorts bottom means I can run after my 5-year-old, squat down to change a diaper, and sit crisscross-applesauce to nurse (easy to do, thanks to the relatively low-cut top) without having to readjust or worry about revealing too much.

This thing feels sleek and contained when you’re wearing it, like a wetsuit. Versatile enough that I’ve worn it tubing down the Russian River and sauna-ing in a Milan hotel. The colorblock says “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom.”

Patagonia Swell Seeker One-Piece Swimsuit
For maximum sun protection I would go with this suit from Patagonia. You'd just have to wear a swim bra underneath as it doesn't offer any support.

Aside from that, I’ve completely changed my outlook on swimwear. String bikinis are for a past life. This is probably long overdue, but I’m all about security and coverage now. Of course, I’ve searched our own site and saved tons of suits, especially from the swim-romper, tankini, and swim-shorts roundups. Here were a couple that caught my eye. I’m also still trying to figure out what I’m most comfortable surfing in in cold California waters. My spring suit from Rip Curl has been great so far, but I’m worried that once the temps rise or the inevitable heat wave comes, I’ll want something a little thinner. I have these not-too-thick rash guards and suits saved just in case.

As a kid, I’d see TV or Kathy cartoons where the women freak out about finding a bathing suit and think “calm down and get a fucking life!!!” But here I am, three decades later, and I’d generously describe my feelings about swimwear as “complex.” I wanna feel like a freak on the beach and a lady in the sea- or something. I don’t know WHAT I wanna feel, but this set- especially the ingenious swim skirt, which is both a wedgie-maxxing bottom and a conservative yet flirty little skirt in one- makes me feel it. This is a custom Tiffany blue, and I’m gonna wear it til the wheels fall off this train.

re: DD/DDD/E/G sizing, etc. This is a swimsuit with an underwire and adjustable/supportive bra straps. I’d say the Cuup ‘scoop’ style is medium coverage, but I find that the fabric is overall minimizing. Combined with a high waisted bathing suit bottom (for some), love. (This collab pictured is very cute too.)

The Ruffle Breaker Belted One-Piece
Summersalt's collection is fairly standard, as they love their one-shoulder, color-blocked styles. Their recent collab with Liberty Prints really stood out however. I'm usually not into so many dainty florals but this belted version is very feminine and lovely. Perfect for a European holiday.
Buy a one piece that comes in "tall" length
Ok so this one is for my tall and/or long torso-ed girls. I always hated how one pieces looked on me, but then I got one that comes with a long waist and realized that the length was the problem. This one from andie has different lengths

Speedo one-piece training swimsuits
I originally bought a few of these for lap swimming but have since started wearing them to the beach. Experience the freedom of not having to worry about losing your bikini top to the waves of the Atlantic!! They come in a lot of colors and are frequently extremely cheap on Amazon for some reason (this one was $17). Just make sure to measure your torso for accurate sizing because training swimsuits are sized very differently from normal ones

You know what swimsuit isn’t budging an inch during dicey summer activities like tubing and water parks? A good ol’ swim team suit! I break out an old-school TYR a few times each summer and feel up for most anything.

I got this as a hand-me-down, and it's my most-worn bathing suit for the past 5+ years. I'd buy it again in a second, maybe in this reversible version next time!
I Love this suit and it comes in TALL TORSO which I need - the cup line on the top is a nice detail and these suits last forever

I tried what felt like a million swimsuits and brands last summer. I landed on Jolyn and I'm so happy with them! They have a great range of styles and coverage, their colors are actually nice, they're size-inclusive, they're made for swimming athletes so they're quality and stay in place, and they're a solid price. They have two categories, training (for pools) and surf (for everything else). I got two surf sets and absolutely love them! Well, first I got one set and loved it so much I had to order another.

Hunza G Square Neck Swim in Lilac
soooo i bit the bullet and bought a Hunza G earlier this summer (the Pamela) and i'm devastated to report that it is the best swimsuit i've ever owned. thick and secure and cute and comfy as hell. so now i've gotten greedy and i want the square neck version. for the low back!
