Demon Copperhead

“This is the great American novel and no, I won't be taking any questions.”

“i still think about this book constantly”

“One of the greatest stories ever told. Period.”

“this book sat with me longer than any other i've read recently”

“An American rewrite of David Copperfield (Charles Dickens) which I've never read but maybe I will now.”

“The audiobook narrator added dimension and humor that the voice in my head didn’t and made the story at least 12%less sad”

“That’s the whole book!”

“It’s the magic of a surreally talented writer weaving a supremely compelling and human story. Magic. Really.”

“Great book!”

“This one might remind you of other protagonists you know... a la Harry Potter, Tom Sawyer, Holden Caulfield... It's hard not to totally fall in love with Demon. This is the masterpiece of a lifetime; one of those books you only have the pleasure reading a few times in your life. I savored every page. Wish I'd read this sooner.”

“You can’t stop reading this and will be up all night and cry and smile”

“I went into this asking “is Barbara Kingsolver overrated?” NOPE.”

“I neglected my family while reading this book. Locked myself in the bathroom just to get a few pages in, pretended to be folding laundry upstairs just to get a few pages in, you get the idea. This book grabbed me by the collar, dragged me through Appalachia and broke my heart into a million pieces. Ten out of ten, but maybe don’t read it if you need to function normally.”

“i just finished this book and its my number 1 book of 2026 and easily top 3 of all time. its so deeply moving and incredibly written, it will without a doubt be considered a classic in 50 years”

“I haven’t stopped thinking about Demon since I finished this. Absolutely shattered me.”

“Probably a great read read but loved this production”

“His voice has never and will never leave me.”

“I wish I could read this book again for the first time. completely immersive, heartbreaking, beautiful writing.”

“I was up until 4 am when I read this. Could not put it down!”

“the narration of this audiobook is clever, the protagonist’s voice evolves as he gets older and I loved that extra touch. his story rings true for so much of America, troubled with poverty, family issues, drug use, etc. This story stuck with me, and I recommend it over and over again”

“This felt initially daunting because of its page length, but I could. Not. Put. It. Down. Another great one if you like to annotate.”

“So gut wrenching and raw. Haven’t been able to finish it…yet.”

“Kingsolver is a never miss for me. But this book is at the top of the pile- It’s a rare thing to read a book of a life so different than yours and still feel like the character will live inside of you forever.”

“The reality of the opioid crisis, told through the story of a boy named Demon. You'll root for him, cry for him, and be awed by his story of resilience and grit.”
