If I thought this place was a secret in any way I would take it to the grave. That’s how good these donuts are. I recently heard that they make donut “cakes” basically just donuts arranged in a shape then frosted/decorated, like a snowman in winter, and that those cakes are coveted birthday celebration cakes that only the most prepared type A RI moms can get their hands on for their children. It is a no frills cash only place. They aren’t making “instagram” donuts you can take 1000 pictures of and brag about to your friends. That isn’t my vibe and it isn’t theirs either. They are simply making the best quality donut they possibly can. In a world of food created for photos be an Allie’s donuts making food that is created for your tummy and the love of the game. I’m typically a glazed donut classic girl. I’m not really into old fashion donuts. But at Allie’s I make an exception. All of their old fashion donuts are unreal. Crispy on the outside light and fluffy cakeyness on the inside. It’s hard to name a favorite but the coconut is probably my number one. 🤤🤤🤤 Just thinking about them is making me calculate when I will be back at my brother’s house so I can pick some up.

This place makes an excellent, but absolutely not cheap sandwich and smoothie. The location is perfect, literally on the ocean with outdoor seating. Plus it’s right across the street from a 10/10 market stop to really complete your day.

Venda Ravioli

One of those iconic Italian markets. If you need to plan to go here try to hit it in the summer when they close down federal hill and all the restaurants put tables in the street. It feels very European. Grab some food then hit Venda for a hell of a lot of goodies to take home. There is a reason their name has ravioli in it so don’t make the mistake of not getting any.

I seek out little markets everywhere I go. This is a good one. I stopped in just before Easter looking for fun edibles to stock my husband’s Easter basket with and was not disappointed. The honey candy I got him went fast and he insisted I get more asap. They have an excellent cheese selection. Another place where a 5 star charcuterie board could be whipped up in about 2 seconds flat. Lots of goodies worth spending the $$ on.
