This is a beautifully designed alarm clock with a cool alarm chime. It can be repaired. It looks great on a bedside table. Quit using your phone as an alarm
Philips SmartSleep HF3670 Sleep and Wake-Up Light
Not sure why this particular style was discontinued but they’re all over FB marketplace and poshmark. This glowy lil device soothes my nervous system like no other as I prepare for bed. The 30 min gradual countdown plus some good ol' pillow talk with my hubby is fail proof at this point (plus getting in bed at the same time every night - Your body loves routine)!! The wake up setting is just as soothing (gradual 30 min wake up - we have blackout curtains). No crazy iPhone alarm blaring in your ear. I put ours on our dresser which forces me to get out of bed!

I’ve kept this clock on my nightstand since I was in elementary school, it’s made in all sorts of Easter egg colors as well as neutrals and has a very classic face. Wakes you up first with light and then with an alarm, clock face stays dimly lit at night time.

Sangean RCR-5BK AM/FM Clock Radio
I was looking for a good clock radio a few years ago and bought this one, six years later and it’s still going strong. It has great sound for being so small and you can preset a bunch of stations. I really love it, and I feel like it has a pretty low profile. I like how simple it is. No Bluetooth, just Radio.

Changed my relationship to my p*one in the morning. Wakes me up with the radio instead of beeping. Didn’t fall for a fancy IG brand alarm clock, this gets the job done ✔️

I would not be able to hold a job without this alarm clock, it sounds like a bomb is about to go off when it sounds and it’s the only thing that will get me up in the morning, unfortunately I think you can only get it on ebay now?? I got lucky and found mine at goodwill for $5, BE ON THE HUNT!!

Despite its name, no app or smartphone integration. No connecting to WiFi. No Bluetooth. Helps simulate sunrise and gradually increases in the intensity of warm light until the alarm goes off. Most of the time I wake up earlier because of the light ahead of the alarm.
Classic, good-looking, and practical. They come in some good colors now as well as the traditional black or white.

No phone in my room. Plays different things every day so I feel like the novelty wakes me up better? And sometimes the music is amazing and I start my day with dancing! Keep it simple.

No bells. No whistles. Not expensive. Just a clock radio with an alarm. It’s not aesthetic, but whatever. I like to wake up to our local jazz fm.

philips magnavox AJ3940 CD/radio alarm clock
Bought this beauty for $5 at a yard sale and found a pdf of the user manual to set it up. I can set two alarms on it, and have the option to have it spin a selected track on a CD as my wake up song. Tomorrow we’re gonna hear “Brand New Colony” by The Postal Service at 6:00am and I am stoked. Reminds me of the CD player alarm clock I had in high school and the Rainer Maria CD I had in there for months on end. I’m living in a different decade. And this feels very chic, very peak technology in the year 2000.

A small shift with dramatic results. Such a huge percentage of people keep their phones in their bedrooms overnight exclusively to be woken by their phone alarms in the morning. Imagine for a moment just how much easier it would be to not start every day with a doom scroll session if you... couldn't. If you took things back a few decades and had a dedicated alarm clock. As a (huge) added bonus, you have a new opportunity to express yourself via design and pick the alarm clock that most perfectly reflects your vibe.
