We are going to Stockholm in the summer (two adults) and I’d love any recs!! Staying at ett hem for two nights and then have two more nights. Where should we stay and where should we eat and what should we do? Thank you!!!!

meatballs for the people (and other Stockholm things): Tried because it’s true! I’m sorry to report these meatballs are actually very delicious and you really should go :)

Others:

Freya + soder restaurant: good food and great views

Sitting/eating/drinking outside in sodermalm: in SoFo on skanegatan (bar agrikultur), or near Slussen station which has great views of the city

Skansen Museum: Nordic history, beautiful views, Sweden of yesteryear

Eating choklabollar: these no-bake chocolate ball snacks (oats, butter, sugar, coconut, coffee) were a revelation. They are simple, but I still dream of them.

Archipelago trip: 10000% recommend getting out of the city, staying on an island, and enjoying their vast ferry network (and the stunning scenery that accompanies it)

Ferries: speaking of ferries…taking the ferries, whenever possible, in Stockholm. Very scenic, and often most convenient way, to move between certain points of interest. E.g. Djurgarden to sodermalm

Fika: embrace fika while you’re there, eat all the buns, carry the spirit of fika home with you after

Cristina : Catch a ferry (in front of the Grand Hotel) to Vaxholm for a fun day trip in the archipelago.  Dinner at Riche.  Do NOT miss Svenkst Tenn, a brand I first came to know from the textiles used in Joanna's home design, but later fell in LOVE with when I eloped with a Swede!!!! (The scene in Mamma Mia where Meryl sings "Money Money Money" with all the textiles?  That's Svenkst Tenn!).  NK (Nordiskakompaniet) is an an amazing Swedish department store.  Always ask for VAT receipts.  As you're shopping around, ask for giftwrapping-- it's done so charmingly and with such attention, even for small little purchases.  Sodermalm = the brooklyn of Stockholm with many amazing vintage and secondhand shops.  Two classic Stockholm stores to try are Acne Studios and Toteme.  Stroll around Gamla Stan (but wear good sneaks! Those cobblestones are a helluva way to break in any new "swedish hasbeens" clogs!).  Other good hotels besides Ett Hem (which is AMAZING) include the Grand Hotel, the Lydmar, the Bank hotel, and Miss Clara.  Please feel free to reach out for any other tips.  You can't go wrong!! Visit Kulturhuset: Near the tunnelbana station (subway) in downtown proper. Such a beautiful building with a library, cinema, museum, art, etc all-in-one and a nice spot for a snack break if you’re in the area.

Långholmsbadet: I’ve been spending my last three summers in Stockholm, this July as well. One of my favorite things to do is swim in the city… you’ll notice so many swimming holes. Långholmsbadet is one of my favorites. The beach has a beautiful cafe, there is a “kayak-o-mat” and one of the biggest rope swings attached to the bridge.

grinda stockholm: Take a ferry to Grinda for a day trip or book a cabin and stay overnight (that’s what we did in the middle of a week in Stockholm). So beautiful and lots to do. Hike, rent a canoe or a sauna. The restaurant located by the cabins is wonderful.
