HerOneBag: These travelers can go for weeks with just a backpack. I’ve learned so much from them - denim is disfavored for travel, wool is key, how to modify a purse to make it theft-resistant, using a contact lens case for liquids, reversible clothing, etc.

KG · Answer

r/fencesitters: There are some seriously amazing humans and experts on this topic regularly chiming in here (like Merle Bombardieri, author of the book everyone should read: The Baby Decision).

KG · Answer

r/regretfulparents: It’s a safe space for parents to express totally valid and 100% human emotions on the sadly taboo topic of regretting parenthood. Regret isn’t a monolithic concept. I like to read it when I experience fleeting moments of regret or doubt about the CFBF life. Cures me right up!

/r/laundry: I’ve always been a freak for a laundry hack or stain removal technique, and these heroes have really unlocked new worlds for me over the last year.

Tegan Kost · Answer

r/whatisit: Silly and sometimes genuinely illuminating. People don’t know what something is and so they ask reddit. Lots of parents of teens asking if benign things are actually drug paraphernalia. You really never know what you’re going to get!

Category-specific stationery channels: Mechanical pencils, fountain pen ink, rollerballs, all getting the hyper-detailed dedication they deserve

Jessica · Answer

r/whatismycookiecutter: People post random cookie cutters they’ve found secondhand and commenters make guesses on what it’s supposed to be, usually doodling what they think.

Rach · Answer

r/BottleDigging: These kind of communities are the reason I love reddit. It's a peek into a subculture that I'm not a part of and full of experts that are active in the comment section.

Lyla · Answer

Louise Buckley · Answer

r/grilledcheese: I love grilled cheese. Love to watch people experimenting in here, the trials and tribulations of grilling a cheese sandwich, the debate over what does and doesn't qualify as grilled cheese, grilled cheese purists, people trying grilled cheese for the first time...there's a lot going on. I've never posted.

/r/AskHistorians: If you like history and can be patient then I strongly recommend subscribing to this subreddit.

This sub distinguishes itself from other more popular boards by maintaining a strict ruleset about the type of responses they allow by users managed by an active moderation team. Their wiki on submitting answers is more comprehensive than most subreddits' entire rules. Users range from regular people to amateur and professional historians and they regularly host AMAs.

The "drawback" is that the answers trickle in slowly as writeups can be extremely long and indepth. Checkout this answer from a someone in the Scotch whiskey industry about the Winston Churchill's consumption of Johnny Walker Red.
