Tired of Sex by Weezer (1996)
Lowkey a proto-anti-incel anthem, “Tired of Sex” is an ode to sexual disillusionment. While at Harvard, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote an essay titled “A Mad and Serious Master” for an English class, in which he discusses the perils of celibacy and concludes that marriage (or at least monogamous love) is the answer.
"I concluded that modern society was just not conducive to celibate living for a single, successful musician. Marriage, which once had seemed as undesirably permanent as a tattoo, now seemed to be the one, clear hope for my coming out of my longing."
The track absolutely nails the feeling of Rivers' frustration and that is no better represented in the coda — building to a huge, solo-driven cathartic release before dropping out entirely and coming back again in full force for one last visceral taunt.
Outro begins at: 2:43
