White noise to sleep
•••
Mine was maybe stress related, just had the happy realization that it’s been long gone for a while (so there’s hope!) but especially in the beginning throwing on a white noise playlist (or whatever form of background noise he prefers) at night to mask it was super helpful, and it didn’t bother my spouse.

Managing stress
•••
My husband also has tinnitus and after a while of trying to puzzle it out, we realized his increases and decreases with his stress levels. He's a bit of a workaholic, so this has forced him to take better care of himself and not push himself so hard. We also used to live in a big city and realized the intensity of living there was having an effect on his tinnitus, so we made the decision to move to a quiet neighborhood in a smaller city. After we moved, his tinnitus lessened considerably. We've also realized that it's connected to his jaw clenching (also caused by stress) and I've been trying to get him to work on some jaw massages to no avail. :) Oh! There's a tinnitus subreddit which may or may not be helpful. Some posts there helped me make the jaw clenching connection. Linking it here.
