Things to Make on a Rainy Day
Sauerkraut!

it’s literally just 1 head of red or green cabbage and salt! I put dill and garlic in mine tho you just shred cabbage, massage it with salt and it gets watery! pack it in a jar under its own liquid & let it sit for like 2 weeks!!

dancing in the rain

you need a good strong rain for this one, a seattle drizzle just won’t do. august in the south around 3pm is a pretty much a guarantee. in lieu of, tom holland’s lip sync battle should bring the vibes.

Going potato mode
•••
Did you know that humans share about 50% of our DNA with potatoes because we use the same basic genes for cellular function? This is what Reddit told me, anyway, which is obviously the most reliable source of scientific knowledge. With this in mind, I highly recommend transforming yourself into a human potato by getting into the comfiest clothes possible, surrounding yourself with pillows and blankets, and merging your body with your couch. Allow any freeloaders (pets, kids, etc) to nuzzle in your nooks. Put on your favourite comfort movie/show/podcast or read a cosy book. And remember: rest is not earned, rest is not "laziness", rest is a basic need and simple pleasure.

•••
Paper quilling looks intimidating but, once you get the hang of it, can be relaxing and even therapeutic! I head a "Chilling and Quilling" activity at the library occasionally and we usually get a good turnout. There are some cheap starter kits that can help you start out :)

Going analogue at the coffee shop

Reading and writing poems, a hot maple oat milk latte and a breakfast sandwich that drips yolk all over my hand, rain sounds in lieu of Spotify.
