Romanticize every month !!
•••
Maybe it's living in SF where the seasons are "fog" and "good sunsets," but I find the easiest way to romanticize the (real) seasons is by shopping at farmers' markets. Strawberry season, apple and squash season, and citrus season are my favorites. Salad days, if you will. I also practice "outside season" (long days) and movie season (long nights).

I loove Sky Guide! I pull it out every time there's a particularly bright star (is it Venus? Siruis? No! It's Pollox!) or a group that looks like it could be a constellation.

Respecting the “Play Bow”
•••
I also play bow back to our pup! She sometimes tries to speak our language—a paw on the arm, a hug around the neck—that it just seems fair to try to speak hers! She doesn’t much care for our howling at the moon, but I can tell she thinks the giant play bow is funny.

Ikigai
•••
Does it align with your Ikigai? From Wikipedia: Ikigai (生き甲斐, lit. 'a reason for being') is a Japanese concept of an individual's definition of the meaning of their life. Ikigai can be having a sense of purpose in life, as well as being a source of motivation. According to a study by Michiko Kumano, feeling ikigai as described in Japanese is usually the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that follows when people pursue their passions. Activities that generate the feeling of ikigai are not imposed on an individual; they are perceived as spontaneous and undertaken willingly, making them personal and dependent on a person's inner self.

Adding Iconic Soundscapes to Your Travel List
•••
"Hearing is spherical, vision is directional; hearing immerses its subject, vision offers a perspective; sounds come to us, but vision travels to its object; hearing is concerned with interiors, vision is concerned with surfaces; hearing involved physical contact with the outside world, vision requires distance from it; hearing places you inside an event, seeing gives you a perspective on the event; hearing tends towards subjectivity, vision tends towards objectivity; hearing brings us into the living world, sight moves us toward atrophy and death; hearing is about affect, vision is about intellect; hearing is a primarily temporal sense, vision is a primarily spatial sense; hearing is a sense that immerses us in the world, while vision removes us from it." Jonathan Sterne A few of my favorites: *Honking migrating snow geese - December/January, Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge *Palm fronds clacking in the wind - Berkeley Botanical Garden *Opera singer under the bridge - Central Park, NYC *Stepping on crunchy leaves - Fall, Appalachia

Also fun - limit yourself to one “magical book” per used bookstore visit - the one that catches your eye or you can’t put down or you know you won’t find anywhere else or you’ve never heard of - makes the book feel so much more special at home
