Favorite new press/first press olive oil? Happy olive oil harvest season to all who celebrate. I am looking for recs for olive oil you can’t get at the grocery store. Must have date pressed on it not just expiration date. Yes I am bougie about this sorry! Esp olive oil that is the first press for those amazing fresh spicy raw flavors. Esp if it’s on the budget friendly side but still amazing quality.

Kaia Olive Oil: Did you know that, depending on the year, Tunisia is the second or third largest producer of olive oil in the world? You probably didn't because so much of it gets shipped to Europe in bulk to be blended with other oils and labeled "Product of Italy" etc. But Kaia is trying to re-valorize Tunisia's amazing olive oil. It is all single-source, chemali olives that are pressed within a few hours of the harvest. I've been to their estate in central Tunisia and it is something out of a dream. Get the good stuff, support the small do-ers of the world.

Signature Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Ojai Olive Oil Company: Wow, so many Os in that tongue twister title, sorry! But I could drink this stuff from the bottle, and I have. It's unfiltered, first press, cold-pressed from a family-owned and operated farm. And you definitely won't find this in a grocery store, unless you're shopping in one of the two grocery stores in Ojai!

Olio del Cardinale: This olive oil used to be a family secret of sorts — the importer would import for his friends and larger in the know friend circle (hat tip to my aunt @vermilion_triangle for the hook up). I’ve gifted and have been gifted a bottle of this olive oil and it’s so good. I don’t have a bottle in front of me (just placed a restock order this morning) but am fairly certain it has a harvest date on the bottle — I for sure get harvest update emails from importer Dave Dellanave.
