Digital Tributlations by Gianmarco Cristofari
•••
This series of interviews explores how communities in Latin America are challenging Big Tech and experimenting with digital sovereignty—building technology and infrastructure that serve collective needs rather than corporate profit! Super interesting to reflect on our relationship with institutions that are deeply embedded in our everyday lives. Recommending not because I agree with every point being made in this conversation, but because it really made me think! The piece is an interview with artist and writer James Bridle about his book Ways of Being, which explores intelligence beyond humans and how technology might help us better understand animals, plants, fungi, and ecosystems. The Post-Individual
•••
I really love Yancey Strickler's work (check out my posts on Metalabel and DFOS). The Post-Individual argues that the internet first gave us unprecedented freedom to construct multiple versions of ourselves, but that this very freedom is now pushing us toward a new era where identity, belonging, and power are increasingly organized around online communities and collective selves rather than the autonomous individual. He is arguing we have many selves, and now are often determining which we will present.
