Reframe Mercury Retrograde
•••
Mercury Retrograde gets such a bad rap! Yes, it is full of glitches and delays and miscommunications. But! BUT! It’s also so good for cleaning out your closets and purging the shit you don’t need and finishing the things you’ve been meaning to finish. I used to dread it. Then, somehow, my not-particularly-astrology-focused husband started paying attention to it and let me tell you, he is the Mercury Rx hype guy. HE LOVES it. He WAITS for it. Says actual sentences like “Ugh, I can’t wait for Mercury to go retrograde.” He lives for that finishing/letting it go energy. It is such a good reframe!! Are the glitches and miscommunications annoying? Yes. But also kind of funny if you let them be?? Last night, he and I had a complete miscommunication where we were both rude to each other by accident and I was SO annoyed, and then I thought “oh that was such a classic Mercury misfire” and it depersonalized the whole thing and we laughed and neither of us cared at all anymore. Clear out! Finish up! Embrace the messy! Reframe mercury retrograde!

Love astrology but confused about signs vs planets vs houses?? This podcast is such a good primer! I’ve been astrology-conversant my whole life (anyone else here grow up with a family astrologer? 🙋♀️) but not truly fluent. This podcast had me understanding what I was looking at in a chart pretty damn fast. Start way back at the beginning.

Astrology of the Week Ahead

You probably don’t need a rec for the internet’s favorite astrologer, but here it is anyways. Chani Nicholas’ podcast is short and sweet and just deals with the week ahead. A manageable chunk!

Free Will Astrology by Rob Brezsny

The OG weekly syndicated alt-newspaper astrologist. I LOVE his horoscopes, which are full of delightful factoids and are also mini love letters to wonder and joy. I used to snip them out of The Stranger and glue them into my planner. People often recommend that you read the horoscope of your rising sign instead of your sun sign, but for me, RB’s take on my sun sign is always 🎯. He’s been sending a free newsletter for decades and now he’s on Substack.

The Astrology Podcast with Chris Brennan
•••
He’s a master of overlaying current and historical events with astrology and making bang on predictions as a result. Definitely very wonky and cerebral—if someone were writing white papers about astrology, it’s this guy. Give yourself permission to gloss over all the granular astrology bits that you (I!) don’t understand and just take in the major points. I like the Monthly Forecast episodes, but warning: they are long.
