this is a recommendation for any self-portrait studio near you - this is just the one near me. I cannot recommend self-portrait studios more if you need professional photos taken and feel awkward in front of a photographer. they have a professional backdrop/lighting/equipment set-up and give you a little clicker to take photos, so you can take photos in privacy. you can even play your own music to get a vibe going. or if you're me, bring a little bit of wine to also get a vibe going. I came here because I needed more professional headshots but it would work for family or couple photos too. I might even go with my dog to get some cutie family pictures 🥹 I got like 200 pictures in my 30 minutes but this is one of my faves, as an example

self-wash stations @ Pet Food Express on Market

if you're willing to self-service, i like the wash stations at the Pet Food Express on Market. my dog also hates the groomer but I think the fact that I'm washing her here helps a lot. it can get a bit messy (don't wear a t-shirt you aren't okay getting wet) but I find it to be a nice bonding experience.

I love having a local butcher shop and just popping in to see what looks good. also they sell chicken bones for $1/lb for making homemade bone broth to pour over my dog's kibble. plus all the guys who work here are cute (respectfully)
