Té Company in the West Village: This is my favorite tearoom in the city. Simply delicious Taiwanese teas, superb pastries, the kindest staff, and incredible environs to spend an hour or so solo or with a friend. I’ve only been to the original West Village location, but can’t recommend it enough. Always top of my to-do list when I’m back in NYC. Three Lives across the street is an awesome place to check out, while you’re at it.

Fay Da bakery: There is nothing better than fresh Cantonese baked goods. Try the classics (pineapple bun, cup sponge cake, coconut cocktail bun), then branch out into the oddities (my favorite was the lemon curd pineapple bun). Don't miss the steamed bun, which are great for a takeaway lunch (classically pork and vegetable, but my favorite is the sticky rice roll).

Big Wong: If you want good authentic Cantonese cuisine, specifically congee and rice noodle rolls and barbecued meats, you have to come here! I grew up on this stuff. So great for breakfast. Get the youtiao (savory Chinese donut sticks) and the ngau lei sou (sweet Chinese donut) with your congee.

That I’ve been to? Nom Wah (cash only dim sum) and Derby Cup (horse themed caffeination destination, covered in horse items). That I want to go to? Magic Jewelry (for an aura photo), Bridges (for dinner), and Lei (drinks before dinner). You can definitely walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and through both Tribeca (South?) and NoLita/SoHo (North)? Any which way, you’ll have alllllll the fun. (Pic is of me in front of Nine Orchard on their opening day — would consider it Chinatown adjacent. Can cool you off with strong A/C and a cocktail while surrounded by beautiful design. Across from Kiki’s, which was suggested down below.)

Beware the narrow entrance when you enter their space because you can easily clock someone with the door.

Bar Oliver: I’ve been forgetting that with age comes sophistication, so going to a wine bar like Bar Oliver in ‘two bridges’ reminded me I’m not just a frump-toddler mom (weeks away from turning 36-40). I’m also a person who loves atmosphere and wants to feel like Chinatown is an uninitiated Paris arrondissement! The Spanish tapas and minimal table seating means this place isn’t for the faint of heart. You should plan on bringing a close friend to get sauced or share the whole menu with a four top.

Doyers Street: Beyond having a mind blowing history (check the linked wiki article) Doyers Street has an insane 'banger per storefront ratio'. This tiny street, basically an alley, hosts the iconic 100+ year old dim sum temple Nom Wah Tea Parlor, the many award winning bar Apotheke, an absolute scene of a two floor restaurant in a former opera house Chinese Tuxedo, the unpretentious classic Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles and a lovely newish wine bar in Lei.
