“the noodle scenes in In the Mood for Love (2000) – the food becomes the only thing they can share without crossing the line. every slow walk to the street stall for noodles feels heavier than a confession. you can feel the quiet unspoken feelings they have for each other-- the tense simmering in the silence. they’re always standing close, always almost saying something to each other. just comfortable happy to be in each other's company.”

A visual stunner, with an incredible soundtrack, this is also the peak of HK cinema, which gets very little recognition. (Did you know the Departed started off as a HK film, Infernal Affairs? I still like Infernal Affairs better) Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung may be two of the most beautiful people in the world, and the restless longing between the carries the film. And her dresses. Omg.
