“death personified, new fonts for every chapter, references to authors new and old, + a touch of the gothic! what else could you possibly want?”

“Wow this one is a dooozyyyy. What I’ve heard described as “tenderhearted horror”, this book is a meditation on grief, trauma, loss, love, and finding the things you want to live for. It’s equally funny, dark, witty and gruesome and so very expertly written! The book follows Sonny, a depressed 13 year old grieving the loss of his father and navigating life with his mother (whom he has an estranged relationship with, to say the least) in a new town. Sonny’s troubles are all but consuming and there seems so be no way out, until he’s approached by the Grim Reaper himself with an offer to take up his mantle and become the next incarnation of death.”
