Country People

“About a family's move to the country (Vermont) from California. Love the strange, relatable characters, especially Our Hero, Unemployed But Devoted Family Man, Miles. Felt like I was truly "escaping" every time I opened this book. No villains, just weirdos. A soothing, peaceful novel.”

“This book! I wanted to read it all aloud to anyone around because it is so funny and astute. Helps you see the best in people and believe in the power of stories and community.”

“Hard to explain how much I love this book. Daniel Mason is razor-sharp and extremely funny, but still so warm and human. I’ve been waiting for a book like this.”

“This book is not everyone, but it was for me. Quirky, heartwarming, and set in Vermont. Loved it.”

“Wonderful descriptions of the Northeastern woods, lovable characters, all-round great writing”

“Just north of North Woods is Daniel Mason's lighter, slightly more absurd tale of an academic Californian family looking to start over in Vermont. But despite the idyllic setting, unfinished dissertations, camo-wearing kindergarten teachers, and local secrets lay in wait.”
