quick lee (he/they)“writing platform built by writers for writers. if you’re using google docs like I did, I urge you to try out ellipsus. it’s free! because it’s based out of the usa, privacy and data laws are a lot more stringent. and no ai anywhere! just human work. there’s a bit of a learning curve because the documents are nested based on a main “home” document, but they have a tutorial when you first create an account that’s super helpful. my tip is to leave the home doc blank with all the settings you want, and then create subdrafts from there. at this time, creating a draft will copy whatever’s on the main draft. my fave features include: focus mode, detailed word count analytics including read time and character count, copy text to HTML or markdown or rich text, download options, a special export to ao3 option, a robust feedback/comment system. but there’s so much more. oh, and the color themes are great! easier than gdocs. since switching early 2025, I haven’t gone back. super easy to export stuff from docs to ellipsus, too. writers, get on it!”
