The StoryGraph

“Woman of color, non-Amazon, owned site for finding book recommendations and tracking that ever-elusive "How many books am I going to read this year?!" I'm at 27 out of 80 for this year! Add me! @thegirllibby”

“StoryGraph is one of my favorite reading apps. I’m a person who likes to track what I read, in large part so I can remember. I like graphs and data. I like a place to keep a list of books I want to read next. This is the place I do this. It’s far better than goodreads bc not Amazon, I can give partial stars, it gives me analytics about my reading and they aren’t advertising to me. Also, started and run by a Black woman.”

“If you love to track your reading and discover new books, I can't suggest The StoryGraph enough. It's an alternative to Amazon-owned GoodReads that has many of the same features including book giveaways and community elements, and it's also just a great app in its own right. It's founded, built, and owned by a Black woman named Nadia Odunayo who is so thoughtful and driven to make TSG the best it can be. The app includes stuff like content warnings and mood/pace tags so you can find a book that exactly suits your moment! Bonus rec: pay for TSG Plus. It's $50 a year and helps keep TSG totally independent from advertisers and massive companies. Remember, if the product is totally free that means you and your data are what's being sold!”

“If you love reading and tracking what you read, but would rather support a Black woman-owned app than Jeff Bezos, Storygraph is the better alternative to Amazon’s Goodreads! Plus, charts and graphs!”

“Also strong rec on The StoryGraphy for all the book lovers (and amazon haters). Follow me https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/theref”

“A graphically pleasing, cool data crunching app with a WOC founder. Love it as single place to store all my to reads and geek out over my reading trends. This is also a great way to stay connected to long-distance friends. At the start of the year, I invited my friend who lives across the country to join so we can see what the other is reading. She recently texted me asking if I would recommend to her the book I just finished or the one I am currently reading.”

“Goodreads alternative! By far my favorite way to track my reading, books I want to read, and more. The user interface is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing, and there are so many features that help with organization and allow you to customize your experience. They also generate your reading statistics and provide visual graphs and data that is satisfying to review.”

“from a former Goodreads user: The StoryGraph is better designed, doesn’t bombard you with all the useless updates, still allows you to connect with friends and fellow readers…and is not owned by Amazon.”

“LOVE StoryGraph!”

“Beautiful, simple and motivational way to track what you’re reading and what you should read next”

“I have never used Goodreads, but have been using StoryGraph for the last several years. I love being able to track book progress and see lots of statistics about my reading habits. Bonus is that it isn’t linked to Amazon.”

“I’ve been using StoryGraph for years now to track reading. Great alternative to Amazon-owned Goodreads, has cool extra features, and the whole interface is just nicer.”

“alternative to Amazon-owned Goodreads founded by a woman of color. great interface, easy book tracking, fun graphs!”

“storygraph is my favourite app.”

“This app has changed my life. I wanted to read more “analog” books, and utilize my public library, but every time I found a book I wanted to read it was either not available or had about 1000 weeks of a hold. Easy to use, I have increased my reading satisfaction and to read list by 1000% - a great place for me to store all your book recs. I have a goal of 25 books for the year - I’m still five books behind on pace, but it’s very motivating to know that, and it pushes me.”

“Independent reading tracking app - connect with your friends, get recommendations based on what you're in the mood for.”

“having a streak on Storygraph has been a game changer for me. my threshold is only one page or one minute of audiobook which is easy to convince myself to do. I rarely stop reading there though! it's like the reading version of just showing up to the gym, you usually end up working out. plus I love seeing the number tick up!”

“StoryGraph is far superior to goodreads. They have great data features and you can even download your own data for further analysis. You are able to give books quarter stars in your reviews. They have a giveaway feature where you can enter to win books directly through their site. Plus it’s woman owned and you don’t have to support Amazon! If you are switching from goodreads to storygraph you can upload all your previous reads so you don’t lose anything!”

“Storygraph is such a fun app for anyone interested in tracking their reading habits. I love how for each book you can see what other users have marked as its mood, pace, plot, characters qualities, content warnings, etc. Plus, if you’re a mood reader you can read a brief description about who the book is ideal for (based on other’s reading experiences/data).”

“The best app for tracking books!”

“best independent reading tracker!”

“huge hearty cosign from me. storygraph > goodreads”

“A independently owned and more thoughtful way to track books, without the clutter of Amazon-owned Goodreads. Follow me at https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/thistlebloom”

“I hesitated starting to track my reads but Storygraph has turned out great!”

“I use The StoryGraph to track all the picture books I've read. I prefer this over Goodreads because the UX is cleaner, charts/analytics are detailed, and the social aspect of Goodreads was distracting for me. I have two accounts with The StoryGraph—one for my adult reading and the other simply for my picture book research/reading. This is my workaround so I can stay on the free version but keep my reading stats (grown-up vs children's) separate.”

“I love the Storygraph. Lo-fi and private (if you want it to be).”

“As an anti-Amazon data dork, I am very into this.”

“I switched from another app to StoryGraph a few years ago and never looked back!”

“Like Goodreads, no Amazon and has half stars and fun visuals for your book tracking.”
