“Oh Ann. Her writing is so comforting. A master storyteller that can turn the mundane into something magical.”

“Oof that was a good book. It was so good I couldn’t help but barrel through it, though it made my heart wobble. The woman can really write.”

“Not sure why I, a woman who recently lost her stepdad, thought this book about a woman reconnecting with her stepdad as an adult would be a good casual read. It was not that. It was rich in grief and tenderness. It was gorgeous.”

“Obama rec. also the way Ann patchett soflty carries you along while she unfolds the lives of her characters sticks with you. Every book is gently unraveled, but you are never bored. Currently binging everything she has written.”

“I just finished this book last night, I woke up still thinking about it. This would be a fun book club book. Ann Patchett is just the best story teller. I don’t want to give too much away about it, but you probably have heard- it’s about her rebuilding a relationship with her step father that she hasn’t seen in 44 years. It’s just this book full of memories that unveil another layer of truths. I also kept thinking about age, how we age, and the ages of people we spend our time with, therefore the conversations we have, that affect the thoughts we have, you get my drift? Anyway, read it! It’s an easy read after reading something a little more dense.”

“My first Ann Patchett read… certainly will not be my last. This is my favorite book of 2026 & one of my faves of all time. So enchanting and such a simple premise but such a layered way of letting it unravel. Love, love, love!”
