“After all these years, I’ve yet to fall madly in love with a classic New York City diner (in my experience, the best ones are in the suburbs). However, I frequent them anyway because I love what diners represent. I love the bottomless coffee that leaves you slightly jittery, the kitschy wall décor, the comfy, well-worn booths, and the fluffy, oversized pancakes. Cobble Hill Coffee Shop is my local diner, and I’m very fond of it. I love that every customer gets a complimentary shot of freshly squeezed orange juice, that the food is perfectly fine and not much better than that, and that it feels like the entire neighborhood eats there.”
