The Artist's Way

“it actually works because doing what she says is very hard. but i will always be greatful for completing this book. it changed my life so much.”

“There is no world where I am not recommending this book. If Julia Cameron has a million fans, then I'm one of them. If she has one fan, then it's me. If she has no fans, that means I'm dead.”

“You’ve quite possibly heard of it, but if you’re willing to put the work in, this is a great place to begin.”

“I know that according to some it’s now considered slightly cringe to recommend the Artist’s Way, but no matter what you get out of it, I can promise that at the very least it will help you excavate your past, and understand your inner wounded child that fuels imposter syndrome , that doesn’t believe she is enough. I found that it dovetailed very well with the work I was doing in therapy. I was not expecting this!”

“i find this book so restorative, healing, and helpful! i'm trying out something this fall where i'll be doing it with an accountability group because i've never managed to do all 12 weeks. but even without getting to the end it's always woken up something really nice in my artistic practice, bringing in a new spirit of lightness and connection that i'd been missing before”

“this is not a creative rec because so many people have done this book BUT if you are one of the people who’s almost finished it, i highly recommend. i’ve done it about 7-8 times and each time something so cool happens to me. i can’t recommend it enough even if all you ever do is take yourself on artist’s dates or do daily morning pages.”

“I am spending time reading and reviewing a chapter each month with some dear friends and all I can say is…this book is life changing. Read it and be challenged, inspired, and energized. Be prepared to fuck up your life (in a good way).”

“Something that always brings me home. Even if I start, stop, start, stop, start, forget. The Artist's Way Morning Pages always grounds me and brings me back to my creative self”

“I’m currently reading this book.I’ve read it about 3 times. I feel like I’ve honestly learned a lot about myself. I would recommend reading if you’re feeling stuck and you don’t know where to start.”

“12 step program for self acceptance and expression. Many start, few finish. Good either way.”

“Julia Cameron walked so that Rick Rubin could run (ie. repackage everything as The Creative Act).”
