““Im an artist, not a reader”, is something I say to explain my lack of motivation as a reader. Which is true, but I also know that an important part of an artists practice is gaining a toolkit of knowledge, which comes from consuming information. My professor recommended me this book after I told her that I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my degree post grad, and I didn’t know what was out there. This book does just that, describing various different aspects of the art world in an incredibly entertaining manner. Thornton narrates her dance through the mysterious and gatekept worlds, describing an auction house like a fantasy world and like the fan favorite book character. I truly enjoyed this book, and it made me understand the “art world” a whole lot better.”
