“utterly charming and enthralling, even at its darkest times. ditlevsen manages to make the most meta reflection as glittering as a fairy story. it brought back ironic memories of vesterbro where i stayed when i was in copenhagen - my experience was a quiet neighborhood for trendy young families and trendier singles, but in ditlevsen's vesterbro, the seedy beating heart of the city is still loud and clear, and it made me love the place even more.”

“A woman's tragic life, a working class urban memoir of Copenhagen in the 1920s, musings on the dependency of men and creative pursuit as a female.”
