Ginny Branch“I’ve loved this beautiful and creepy film since I was little. The colors are exquisite and the dark fairytale storyline of a pair of cursed ballet slippers forcing the wearer to dance til she dies… right up my alley. Bonus for getting the Birdcage ref, “Victoria Page will not dance the dance of the red shoes tonight.””

Anja Charbonneau“Ridiculously beautiful ballet film with incredible color, costumes, and a lengthy, surreal dance performance of The Red Shoes fairy tale.”

Mia“One of my favorites of all time, based around a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. A really beautiful depiction of romance and sacrifice and trying to find balance while maintaining career aspirations and love. Also, you get to see the (almost) complete ballet performance of The Red Shoes, by Moira Shearer, who plays the protagonist and was actually a professional ballerina. Truly just one of the most exquisite movies ever. Free to watch on Tubi, but i’d recommend seeing it at a theatre if any of repertory cinemas are playing it near you (the Academy museum showed it semi-recently, but maybe they’ll do it again, it’s extra special in those red velvet seats).”
