Both giant, ugly, divinely-touched, mystic, lofty, charismatic and ambitious. The contrast of Holden’s masculine ambition (manifesting as conquest, war, abuse, destruction and ownership) and Marie’s feminine ambition (tenderness, divinity, community, regeneration and independence) are fascinating. There’s something there.”
