Now they've also gotten busy making their core products worse, which makes this a great time to explore new options. There's a ton of search engines out there that all have different specialties and many don't clog up their results with AI slop. If you want anonymity and the ability to completely turn off AI: DuckDuckGo (they even have a dedicated "noai.duckduckgo.com" page) If you want to support environmental causes while you search: Ecosia If you're based in Europe try: Qwant If you want privacy and results that are based on a non-big tech crawler*: Mojeek If you want complete privacy: SwissCows If you want a decentralized, peer-to-peer experience: YaCy There are some things I still look at Google for, most notably business reviews (I needed a new dry cleaner) but you'll be SHOCKED by how easy it is to leave Google behind. *Most search engines rely on a list of results from crawlers run by big tech (Google, Microsoft, etc) but they sort/prioritize their results and handle your privacy/anonymity directly.”
