“Right next to Nikkō Tōshōgū (日光東照宮) or the shrine that most people will visit on their trip to Nikkō is Rin’nōji Taiyū-in (日光山 輪王寺大猷院) aka the Mausoleum of Tokugawa Iemitsu, who was the third shogun under the Tokugawa system. Completed in 1653, it is said that Iemitsu's dying instructions when designing his mausoleum, was to be buried within sight of the Tōshōgū (where his grandfather, Tokugawa Ieyasu, was buried) and forbade his mausoleum from surpassing it in scale or splendor.
This site contains 22 registered National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties, and is typically a lot less crowded than Nikkō Tōshōgū (日光東照宮), which makes your visit feel like a serene and tranquil experience. I really enjoyed walking the grounds of this space without feeling rushed. Very peace. 𓏲 ๋࣭ ࣪ ˖
