No matter how bad things get, I always try to find something to be grateful for. It works as an automatic perspective change.

Do whatever fitness you like. I have never gone to the gym and felt worse after a workout. Yoga is calming, Strength training is empowering, and zumba/dance is pure joy. If you're not a member of a gym go for a walk and get moving!

Silly little mental health walks in nature
•••
Just left the house for the first time in 9 days to go for a silly lil mental health walk in nature and found myself bawling my eyes out at this rainbow lorikeet just hanging outside his lil tree stump house. We stared into each other's eyes for a good 10 mins until he decided that was enough and retreated back inside his lil tree hole.

Do something nice for someone. Pay for their coffee, buy something on a teacher’s amazon wish list, bring a friend a treat. Always elevates my mood

Buying something you’ll genuinely look forward to

That you wouldn’t otherwise, and that’s interactive in some way. I think it’s actually nice for this purpose to order online, so you can have some level of anticipation. Could be a kitchen tool, book, item of clothing, craft… I feel like materialism often gets a bad rap. Sometimes you just need to treat yourself! Also, my therapist guided me to the realization yesterday that maybe when I get into a funk it’s okay, and I don’t have to be worried it’ll last forever - maybe what I really need to do is allow myself to process the grief or sadness fully, and I’m not allowing myself to or trying to rush it. I don’t know your situation, but perhaps the same applies to you!
