MOVIES: The Lunchbox (2014)
•••
I wish more people knew about this movie!! It is heartwarming and unique and funny. A woman in a lackluster marriage puts a note in her husband's lunchbox, only for the lunchbox to end up in the hands of another man. What ensues is a love-story of the written word -- the question is: is it platonic? Or romantic? JUST WATCH, OK?? Looks like you can rent it for $4 on Prime. That costs less than your favorite overpriced cappuccino. The film is in Hindi. Written & directed by Ritesh Batra.

MOVIES: The Way, Way Back (2013)
•••
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It has its silly moments, but what coming-of-age story doesn't? Mix in a lovable Sam Rockwell, a tipsy Allison Janney, and a passive-aggressive (and unlikeable) Steve Carell, and you have a delightful, funny & sweet film. And the rest of the cast is STACKED. My parents had a station wagon growing up too, and I can relate to the comfort of sitting in the way, way back. Written & directed by Nat Faxon & Jim Rash.

MOVIES: Danny Collins (2015)
•••
Pacino, Bening, Garner, Cannavale, Plummer! The synopsis tells you all you need to know: "an aging rocker decides to change the course of his life after receiving a long-undelivered letter from the late John Lennon." It's smart and sad and funny and I love it. Family is complicated (especially when your father is Al Pacino). Written & directed by Dan Fogelman.

TV: Jury Duty/Jury Duty: Company Retreat
•••
This show is, quite insane. The concept is brilliant because somehow they managed to do a 2nd season, out now. It's equal parts endearing, hilarious, and absolutely painful. A bonus that each ep is somewhere around 30 mins. Please watch!

Two long-time rivals in the TV industry in 1980s England. It's campy but thoughtful, dramatic but funny, and shit constantly hits the fan. Super entertaining, and kinda sexy?

This show is about heavy -- but important -- subject matter. Check the TWs. Creator & star Michaela Coel is really talented.

MOVIES: Wimbledon
•••
Before there was Challengers, there was Wimbledon (minus the three-way). A little competition and a lot love story, plus a snarky Kirsten Dunst with mediocre tennis form. Don't be fooled by the RT ratings; it's an easy and enjoyable watch. Directed by Richard Loncraine.

MOVIES: St. Vincent (2014)
•••
A quiet and under-talked about Bill Murray movie. He's a boozy and dejected grouch who somehow manages to bond with his lonely 12-year-old neighbor. What ensues is a movie with a lot of heart, and two final scenes that are still at the top of my list today. Written & directed by Ted Melfi.

PODCASTS: The Tennis Podcast
•••
Hosted by three Brits who have extensive sports reporting & commentating backgrounds, but who also talk like they're your tennis friends. Never too technical, always a little corny, and honest too. Weekly episodes throughout the year, but daily for each Grand Slam, live from the grounds.
