I ordered a cinnamon-ginger tea at a Lebanese restaurant the other night and they brought it over with a second glass filled with a slice of lemon and a whole lot of fresh mint. How delightful! It was great in the tea and on its own after the meal.

This bag brings me an unreasonable amount of joy. I mostly use it to bring my laundry to the basement -- it fits around 3 loads and somehow doesn't feel any heavier, even with a Costco sized bottle of detergent.

Public libraries

How incredible are public libraries? They likely could not have been established in today's America and yet they keep providing us with free books, movies, lectures, workshops, etc etc etc. NYPL has an interlibrary loan service, which means I can pick up any book I want 3 blocks from my apartment. I can sit in a library and work for hours without having to buy a $6 coffee. I could wax rhapsodic for paragraphs...

Parallel painting with friends

I love watching kids parallel play and have been doing something similar with my own friends for years. I have close friends with whom I get together to eat snacks, catch up, and paint. We bring whatever watercolors, paper, and brushes we have collected over the years, sit on the floor, and talk and paint for hours. We are not outcome oriented--our paintings are free flowing and reflect our stream of consciousness conversations. Often we give our paintings away at the end of the night, sometimes inscribing a sweet note on the back.
