Melt your old candles into new candles
•••
I recently took a bunch of half burned tapers in beautiful blues and made them into fresh candles. It took a while but it was easy! Buy candle wicks (you can get 100 for less than $10) Collect glass and ceramic yogurt containers, cute teacups, tins, etc. Use a double broiler or, like me, an old glass jar in a pot of simmering water Melted the old candles down (Tip: cut down the burnt wick first!) Attach the wicks to the bottom of your clean container Pour the melted wax into the container with the wick (use chopsticks to keep the wick upright). Play with it! I layered shades of blues in the clear jar. I also tried to make scented candles using essential oils and was not that successful. Next time I will order specialized fragrance oils.
