To me, there is no earthly pleasure like this. It smells good. It FEELS good. It is tactile. You are doing someone “a favor” (let’s be real, I do it selfishly). You can see your actual progress at the end. Given your labor, you have a claim to the most toasted pumpkin seeds. It’s just the best. I scrape them down to the white. If you like pimple popping and stuff like that, get thee a pumpkin.

Sophisticated? No. Cerebral? Absolutely not. Relaxing, skews neutral to happy in content, and filled with fun little ideas to organize and decorate your space and, to an extent, your life? Very much so. I will never not love this magazine.

Watch a movie on Zoom

My friends and I started doing it during COVID and it was such a treat. Pick a movie, mute your mic, and turn it back on to share excellent commentary. It’s as good as watching a movie on the couch together except, because of Zoom, you don’t need to wear pants (amazing). Depending on sleep schedules, this also works with friends in different time zones. *critical note: this is extra enjoyable with deliciously terrible movies

I’ve seen a lot of great recs on here regarding getting over FOMO and embracing JOMO. May I add to the discourse this notion of leaving a party or event on a high? If I know I’ve “peaked” in terms of good times, I’d rather leave with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step than wait for things to wind down.

Moving sucks, but it’s the best impetus for going through your stuff and identifying things that can better serve others or be recycled. My body and brain feel lighter after an intense purge of “stuff.”
