harry dropped this two weeks after my boyfriend and i who had been friends for a bit and flirted even longer finally made things Official and so i'll always associate it with the start of our relationship and how happy he makes me. it's so giddily optimistic and euphoric and just makes me want to run through the streets in the name of love so excited about how much my heart has grown thanks to him and how bright our future is together (sorry for the sap). we belong together!!! it finally appears it's only love!!! AHH!!!

hit the wall!

gracie just gets me idk. fell in love with her work with the release of "risk" ahead of the secret of us two years ago, did a deep dive on her discography immediately after, and have been head over heels for her ever since - but especially songs like "hit the wall," where she lays bare insecurities i share and struggle to articulate or share as eloquently as she does. i feel so seen when i listen to stuff like this - i'm not crazy, because i'm not alone in thinking this way - and this gave me the same feeling "block me out" and "camden" have before while also displaying an exciting new sound and direction for her third studio album.

noah dropped this a few weeks before i dropped my book also about two friends formerly inseparably close in youth who grew apart as they grew up and it felt like divine fucking timing. been a massive fan since stick season and almost all his songs feel eerily applicable to my own isolated upbringing in the midwest but the queer undercurrent here ("how bad it must have been for you back then," "how hard it was to keep it all inside," "hope you're scared of only ordinary shit... and not your soul, and what he might do with it") really hit close to home, even moreso given the themes in my book as well. one of our greatest lyrical storytellers right now.

not sure if anything else will top this song for me this year lol. those feelings of unresolved insecurities creeping up even when you're in a loving and positive relationship... all-too-familiar! dropped while i was a few months in to working on very similar struggles with my own self-worth despite the support and security of such an incredible partner and just felt like she was singing right from my therapy notes lol. one of the best to do it today and maybe ever no matter how hard her songs hit my heart!!!
