I have not taken my four-year-old son here yet, but somehow I have visited many, many times as a grown-ass adult despite not being Catholic. I just love to stop here when I’m giving DTLA tours to out-of-towners because it’s delightful and whimsical. My favorite sculpture is the little beehive that you can crawl into, then pop out and say “Bzzzzzz!”

Hands down the best bagel in Los Angeles. Has been for my entire 40 years of life and probably will continue to be until my dying breath. I will gladly enjoy a plain bagel of theirs with zero cream cheese, etc, but my all-time favorite flavor is the jalapeño cheese.

The “Fat Buffalo” at Fat Sal’s Deli

Want to give your triglycerides a little spin? The Fat Buffalo has chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, melted cheddar, fries, buffalo sauce, and blue cheese dressing. I wish I could say that it’s gross, but (for a tangy buffalo sauce nerd like me) it’s heaven.

I take great comfort in knowing that even our grandest library is a little bit woo-woo. This chandelier inspired the LAPL to do some great social media content around astrology, and I look forward to their posts every time we enter a new zodiac season.

We adopted our dog from Wags and Walks rescue in early 2020 and had a very positive experience. They communicated clearly with us (especially about our dog’s health issues) and helped us tremendously with coordinating and paying for her surgery for her luxating patellas. There are many reputable rescue organizations in Los Angeles, but I feel particularly good about supporting Wags and Walks. (Also, they are very fun about naming their litters. Recently they rescued the “Olive Garden” litter comprised of “Soup”, “Salad”, and “Breadstick”.)
