The line is a bummer but understandable. If you have a book-loving teen they will enjoy being inside. Grab a beautiful edition of a Jane Austen or another keepsake book. Bouquinistes de la Seine are just across the way so you could let them be and wander to the river-side booksellers.

I wouldn't care if the Frenchest French person told me the Champs-Élysées shop was the silliest thing you could do. It's a pretty confection itself and the macarons are so good. We found a small box of deliciousness (an 8 box or so) becomes a perfect keepsake to hold not snackable treasures.
