Germany/ Allgäu Mattlihüs

It's crunchy organic, and located in the bottom part of the downhill skiing slope. Which means in Winter they get you by sledge from the parking area. It's built completely from Swiss Pine, cut at certain moon phase. I am not kidding you- it's suppose to calm you down. You smell the wood throughout the stay, it's awesome. [Friend of mine told me that the used that wood in all bars in Vorarlberg.] Anyway- I found this place bc my family wanted to see a castle. And I am still snickering bc I was like "A CASTLE????". OK, you will get THE castle. THE castle is a 45 min drive away. Until we reached THE castle they had no clue where we were going. Of course, THE castle is overrun by tourists. While this Hotel is not. You can stay there without visiting THE castle. Your kid can finally learn skiing while you just stay calm inside the hotel. And enjoy the view.

You fly in, take the sub, get out at Kongens Nytorv and walk over. Rooms are small, but linens are crips, the bathrooms are nice and when you stay just for a night you might up end up w/ a room that faces the (interior) light shaft of the restaurant. You will be amazed by it. Also, there is one of these almost-open-all night shops on the next corner, where you can fill up w/ licorice and some. AND ... next morning's search for breakfast ... is the hidden gem of the hotel's roof terrace. And that is the reason why you will stay there.

Plus, you can get them w/ your fav choice of liquor. Which made our party super tipsy for the rest of the day.

Try the Boudin Boy or the Kaya Bun ... it's good for breakfast and lunch, and the vibe is super laid back. Welcome to my generic image! Nothing fancy there, just good food.

We had an incredible dinner in March 2026- we tasted, wondered, and enjoyed everything. Plus: interior architecture & bc it's NOLA, you can get your drink to go.

Hawaii/ Big Island

We just came back from Hawaii/ Big Island, where we stayed w/ friends. They are chocolate makers, you can tour/taste, and you can stay on the farm via Airbnb/ link is on their website below. The tour alone is awesome, informative, and it’s not just about chocolate!
