I never watched Knight Rider and certainly didn't know the theme song, but heard this on the car radio (thank you WFMU!) and had to hear it again! I'm a little disappointed that it's video only because it would definitely go in a playlist.

Elvis Costello's First Three Albums

Punky, poppy and literate- My Aim Is True, This Year's Model and Armed Forces are all great records and I would even make the case for Get Happy!! Later he went out of his way to diss Linda Rondtadt when she covered some of his tunes- I guess he was still trying to maintain his punk credentials. Nevertheless, an amazing run of albums and I think he did eventually apologize to the Queen of LA

My go-to every Thursday Morning 9-12. This show really does defy categories; you might hear Nina Simone or Alice Coltrane and then you’re deep in drones, ragas, Terry Riley, Francis Hardy, contemporary classical, Brazilian tunes and sounds from all over the musical universe. Most of it I have never heard before- who needs any more indie rock?!? (Unless it's Geese, of course). I have an incredible playlist of beautiful music I that I first heard on this show. And if you can't tune-in WFMU archives everything!

If you were to ask me “Do you like The Band?” I would say, “Fuck, yeah!” But the truth is that I don’t know many of their songs that are not on this record. This collection is so great- these songs are like short stories that reveal themselves again and again upon every listen. As many times as I’ve heard The Weight I have never once thought about skipping it.

The music doc I didn't know I needed to see! Some of the music and performances are so great and joyous that my soul was stirred. I knew virtually nothing about Billy Preston's life or music and would have never gone to this if I hadn't been invited- I'm so glad to have seen it. He's incredible!
