Great to see these in person! I didn't realize he didn't use regular photo paper, but a dye transfer process- essentially 3 color separation- until Kodak discontinued it in the '90s.

I remember being in maybe 6 or 7th grade and seeing Eggleston’s tricycle, Memphis (1969). I still think about it to this day!

Do you have a sense of why it made such an impression? I was in art school when a friend first showed me his work, but I think it still took a few more years before I fully appreciated it

It's amazing how sometimes it takes years to find appreciation in something that doesn't hit you at first. I remember seeing that photograph and being struck by the enormous scale of the tricycle shot from such an unusual perspective. That really stuck out at me. I thought it was haunting. I guess I still do!
