(Depending on when you’re going) but I used a pair of waterproof Chaco boots for 9 days in Ireland!: It doesn’t look like they make this same style but they were so extremely comfy for 12+ mile days in sun and slight rain, across hikes or long walks through tiny towns!

dansko pearson brown clog: insanely comfy and so cute. i had a 14k-step day in these within the first week of getting them, and i was shocked at how my feet didn't hurt at all by the end of it.

they're super sturdy and non-slip–this brand makes shoes for chefs, nurses, & service workers who are on their feet all day, so they're perfect for lots of walking.

p.s. i had to go one size down in these!

Birkenstock Arizona Essentials EVA Black: If it’s summer, it’s this shoe. Goes everywhere but the snootiest of restaurants. Walking shoe, pool shoe, beach shoe. In a pinch, I’ve even swam in them in the rocky Mediterranean as a water shoe. Everyone wears them everywhere - the most egalitarian of sandals.

Atoms: This brand had a moment a few years ago and I respect them for not over-expanding, flaming out, doing too many things, etc.

Most important: The shoes are quietly amazing. They look slightly weird and have no visible branding. They are comfortable, durable, and versatile. I’ve been on many trips where these were the only shoes I brought.

Also important: The founder Sidra is amazing and deeply cares about making great shoes.
