I love nutritional yeast. I sprinkle it on my eggs and my salads and my avocado toast. I season my popcorn with it (along with olive oil, black pepper, and a little salt). I dust it over my lazy weeknight kitchen sink pasta dinners, or stir it into my radiatori + broccoli/sautéed greens + olive oil for a kinda Mac ‘n’ cheese-y vibe. For me, it is not a cheese replacement, but for many it is! Sometimes I want a savory little topping or add-in but I don’t want a cheese. In those instances and so many more, I turn to my nutritional yeast.
I love that it looks like fish food. I love its dorky name and refuse to call it “nooch” but if you wanna do it, that’s your journey. Despite being a relatively smart and “with it” individual, I only recently learned that “nutritional yeast” is not just a clever name- it does, indeed, have nutritional value!
