[🎵 Album] & // Bastille: Unique concept for a music project! Each song on the album is a story about [historical figure] & [something/someone]. Most of them are about people I've never heard a song written about them. I listen all the way through but my very favorites are "Marie & Polonium" and "Emily & Her Penthouse In The Sky"

Eric F · Answer

Theft World - Lip Critic 💋: New electro-punk bangers.

Eric F · Answer

PsychoWarrior: MG Ultra X - Machine Girl 🦾: Hardcore cyberpunk songs to eat glass to.

Maribeth · Answer

Trying Times by James Blake: This album has carried me through some trying times of my own in the last year, and it’s a banger. Listen for comfort, listen for fun. Enjoy the dynamics of music and of life.

Elena · Answer

Reliquia by Rosalía (and the whole LUX album): Not to be dramatic but this album is transcendent. I cried listening to it the first time, and seeing her perform it live was genuinely a spiritual experience which also brought tears 🥲. Every time I listen I cannot help but dance like I’m possessed. She sings in THIRTEEN languages on this album! The music is deeply stirring and the lyrics are profound. Rosalía wants us to never forget that the sacred and the profane are the same.

update! a new playlist!: there were 399 songs on the first one, so i decided to make a second playlist with all the recommendations that came in the past week or so. i can tell that the (late) summer playlist is significantly more chaotic than the summer playlist. this will be fun.

Emmmily · Answer

Who’s The Clown? by Audrey Hobert: Relive the pain and hilarity of your twenties with some of the best songwriting I’ve heard in ages. Audrey is a star.

Wynne · Answer

It's Not Going to be Okay (Joshua Burnside): This is my favorite album of 2026. Joshua Burnside is the best new (to me) musician I’ve stumbled onto in the last year. I have been daydreaming about booking a flight to Ireland or Northern Ireland to catch one of his shows. I’m very much hoping he’ll make it to North Carolina one of these days.

Chad Nelson · Answer

2 (Yalla Miku): I’ll take from their description: “Blending post-kraut grooves, mutant folklore and electronic trance, Yalla Miku continues to spark dialogue between traditions from the Horn of Africa and the most unrestrained experiments of Geneva's underground.”

So many catchy, danceable tunes and so many global spices. My fave album in the last year.

Dylan · Answer

Princess Nokia - GIRLS: a journey through the femme experience: from rage (Blue Velvet, Medusa) to romance (Matcha Cherry). The writing is genius and articulates ~girlhood is a spectrum~ so gorgeously. The pop culture nerd in me is also obsessed with all the references.

Dylan · Answer

Sudan Archives - THE BPM: pulsing beats, violin loops and introspective lyrics that make me wanna get sexy and sweaty in the clurrrb (HOWEVER I will continue to never leave my couch)

Dylan · Answer

Rosalía - Lux: this is ART!!!!!

Dylan · Answer

FKA Twigs - EUSEXUA Afterglow: wow this goes HARD and coincidentally that is the name of one of my favourite songs from this album. the other fave is Sushi. but just listen to it in full for an entire day on repeat.

Dylan · Answer

Hilary Duff - luck... or something: i was NOT expecting Hilary Duff to sample a Blink 182 song and for me to really like it, but it feels healing to my inner child?

i will be the first to admit i was not expecting this album to go as hard as it does... but ok WOW the whole thing fucking SLAPS

Dylan · Answer

Arlo Parks - Ambiguous Desire: sexy sensual soft dreamy dancey delicious. i can't get enough of her voice.

Dylan · Answer

MUNA - Dancing On The Wall: IT'S A GOOD DAY TO BE A GAY WHO LOVES DANCING

featured on this playlist i made!

Dylan · Answer

Lykke Li - The Afterparty: being so sad while also being so sexy is BACK BABY and so is the Swedish queen of yearning

Dylan · Answer

Lily Allen - West End Girl: WE ARE SO BACK

Ariel · Answer

Arirang by BTS: BTS has been around for 13 years and has faced many struggles on their journey to becoming global icons. They made this album after a 3-4 year hiatus and whether you like k-pop or not, this album SLAPS HARD. Along with pop, it has good hip hop beats and is all around a fun album to listen to and inspiring to hear what they’ve been through and endured.

Elena · Answer

ict by Oklou (& the whole Choke Enough album): Summer in a song, ict captures the exhilaration of chasing the ice cream truck —heart and feet pumping, just praying the truck will hit a stop sign so you can catch up— and feels like it stretches to resonate with every dream-chasing feeling in life. Blade bird is another standout but album is perfect to me!

Matt · Answer

Slayyyter - Wor$t Girl in America: :)

MRP · Answer

Hayley Williams - Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party: Over and over and over again! I can’t wait to see her live in September.

Sydney · Answer

i love my computer (Ninajirachi): Hyperpop meets Y2K nostalgia, Ninajirachi’s recent album features incredibly layered songs, unexpected switch-ups, soothing melodic harmonies, and a sound that’s reminiscent of when technology was just fun. Each song blends seamlessly into the next, so listening through in one sitting is a definite must!

Jenni · Answer

“Clancy” & “Breach”: The two most recent Twenty One Pilots albums are both no-skips for me! I love their sound and energy so much. Playing these back to back on a long drive has been my go-to move lately, highly recommend.

Jamie · Answer

bedouine’s new album: listening to a bedouine album feels like being held in a warm hug. her lyrics are poetry and the vibes are immaculate. i saw her perform the album cover-to-cover this weekend at a small-ish show in LA and i was transfixed. stunning stage presence, too—she is so funny! if you live in a city where she’s performing this fall, get addicted to this music now and then treat yourself to a night with an honest-to-goodness musical star

jmd · Answer

Doves, Constellations for the Lonely: I've only listened to this once so far and would probably need to go back and re-listen to their others to be sure, but my first impression was that this might be their best since The Last Broadcast? (Which is something, given that that was 2002 and they had a decade-long hiatus from 2010 to 2020.)

jmd · Answer

Mountain Goats, Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan: Somehow yet another good record (album #23!?) from the impossibly consistent and prolific John Darnielle.

jmd · Answer

New Pornographers, The Former Site Of: More subdued and with more tinges of melancholy than most New Pornographers records, but I quite liked this one.

jmd · Answer

Robyn, Sexistential: It isn't going to top Body Talk or Honey, but this is a solidly enjoyable 30-minute dance-pop album from Robyn.

jmd · Answer

Wet Leg, Moisturizer: Hooky, idiosyncratic guitar pop-rock built around blasé spoken/sung vocals.

jmd · Answer

Pool Kids, Easier Said Than Done: Emo-ish quiet/loud indie rock from a group I only found out about when this record came out last year, now high on my list of great bands from the past decade.

jmd · Answer

De La Soul, Cabin in the Sky: Did not have "new De La Soul album" on my 2025 bingo card.

jmd · Answer

Modest Mouse, An Eraser and a Maze: 30+ years in and these guys are still delivering the goods.

jmd · Answer

The Beths, Straight Line Was a Lie: Wall-to-wall terrifically catchy pop-rock. This band doesn't miss.

Amy · Answer

you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love (Olivia Rodrigo): I paired this with the book Into the Blue by Emma Brodie - and they felt really right together.
